Menhover Silicone* S-3218 is a non-hydrolysable polyether polydimethylsiloxane copolymer which is used in the manufacturing process of polyurethane and/or polyisocyanurate rigid foams. The applied concentration of S-3218 should between 2.0 and 3.0 parts per 100 parts polyols. |

Application |
S-3218 mixes with all commonly applied rigid foam polyols. Due to its pronounced hydrophobic nature, however, the use of S-3218 may cause a turbid appearance of the rigid foam systems. The main field of application for S-3218 is in systems for the production of continuous metal faced panels. S-3218 not only supports the flowing characteristics of rigid foam systems, but also ensures perfect surface finish and protects the foam against potential metal facer contaminations. Such contaminations might act as defoamers which can harm the surface as well as the cell structure of the foam panel. Besides an improved surface quality, a very fine cell structure with a maximum of closed cells is a distinguishing feature of the final foam. This combination of characteristics is the prerequisite for good thermal insulation properties of the resulting foams |
